Missouri River continues to rise

Parts of Columbia Street in Rocheport remained flooded on Thursday following heavy rain.

The water comes from the Moniteau Creek, which is continuing to pour in from the Missouri River. The Missouri River is forecast to be above twenty-five feet, which includes moderate flooding conditions.

Conrad Yates, a 28-year resident of Rocheport, said he isn’t surprised by the scene.

“We usually see this, at least once a year. It’s not uncommon at all,” Yates said.

Yates also said he uses the 1993 floods as a benchmark for concern.
