Storms late Tuesday followed by much cooler air
TONIGHT: It will stay warm overnight with low temperatures dropping into the upper 60s. Most areas will stay dry, but we can’t rule out a spot storm late, mainly north of I-70. Winds will be out of the southeast up to 11 mph.
TUESDAY: It looks warm and breezy with partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the lower 80s as south winds increase to 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph at times in the afternoon. Spotty storms are possible after 4 PM. These could become severe with all modes of severe possible. The best chance of late afternoon and early evening storms is west of HWY 63 before another line arrives later in the evening.
EXTENDED: A line of storms is expected to develop ahead of a cold front and push slowly through Mid-Missouri Tuesday night after 9 PM. A large portion of Mid-Missouri is currently under a slight risk for severe weather Tuesday night. At the moment the primary threat looks to be strong winds with a lower risk of large hail, but there looks to be enough wind shear in the atmosphere to warrant a concern for tornadoes as well. Also, storms could bring heavy rain and flash flooding is also a possibility Tuesday night. For this reason, we have issued a Weather Alert Day. After the overnight storms roll through Tuesday, on going showers are possible into Wednesday with highs in the 60s. Fall makes it’s return with high temperatures in the 50s by the end of the week and lows dipping into the upper 30s to lower 40s More rain is possible for the upcoming weekend as temperatures stay cool.
