Isolated severe storms possible Sunday afternoon-evening

A warm front is draped across Mid-Missouri and will slowly lift to the north through the evening. Storms developing in southwest Missouri will track to the northeast this afternoon into early evening. These storms are expected to be widely scattered with a few that could strengthen and produce damaging wind gusts of 58 mph or greater. While damaging wind is the main threat, there is a very low tornado threat as well. The severe threat will quickly diminish into the evening as the air becomes more stable but the heavy rain threat will continue.

Here is a snapshot of forecast storms at 3:30 and 8 PM Sunday.

Some areas picked up 1-2″ rainfall Saturday and the ground is saturated where heaviest rain fell. Locally heavy rain is expected with the incoming storms and localized flooding will be possible. Because of the hit and miss nature of the rain, amounts will vary greatly. However, the potential is there for some to produce heavy rainfall. Here is a look at rainfall potential through Sunday evening.
