Five Mizzou baseball players were selected in the 2022 MLB Draft.
Rock Bridge Alum, Spencer Miles, was the first off the board with pick 136 in the fourth round to the Giants.
Miles finished last season for the Tigers with a 6.20 ERA and a 5-5 record from the hill. This past season was also the most strikeouts he has ever had at MU with 67.
First baseman Torin Montgomery was taken by the Marlins in round 14.
Montgomery was a big bat for the Tigers last season batting .362 with 7 home runs and 47 RBI's.
Plus, MU shortstop Josh Day was selected in round 15 by the Diamondbacks.
Day was a second-team All-SEC selection in his senior season with a .332 batting average and a .963 fielding percentage. Day entered the transfer portal at the end of June and told ABC 17 about his plans for the future.
A fourth Tiger went in round 15 in pitcher Nathan Landry to the Red Sox. He had a 3.67 ERA last season with a 4-2 record for the Tigers.
A Hickman alum also heard his name called on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Phillies selected pitcher Drew Garrett with the 572nd pick in the 19th round. The Columbia-native was the third Tiger pitcher selected in the draft. He picked up 12 appearances on the hill in his time at Mizzou, coming out of the bullpen for two seasons.
