Tracking above average heat and dryer conditions

Today: Temperatures look to continue to climb to the upper 90's this afternoon as the heat index will surpass the 100 degree mark. Winds remain out of the south at 5-10 mph as skies remain mostly clear.

Tonight: Temperatures cool to the lower 70's thanks to a overnight cold front passing through Central Missouri from the northwest. Partly cloudy sky conditions are expected with a shift of wind out of the north.

Extended: A high pressure system to the west shields much of the Midwest from seeing chances of rain until late into the weekend leading to dryer than average conditions paired with winds returning out of the south by Thursday afternoon. Highs remain into the upper 90's throughout the rest of the week with weekend temperatures at the triple digit mark.
