Cooler weather visits Mid-Missouri

THIS AFTERNOON: Showers and thunderstorms are going to become more spotty in the afternoon. You still need keep the umbrella handy though, as these will start to lift back to the north later in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be cool, only reaching near 60 north of HWY 24 to the upper 60s in the Ozarks behind a northeast wind at 8-12 mph.

TONIGHT: This evening clusters of storms will move from the south to the north, lifting north of I-70 after midnight. Winds will shift back out of the southwest up to 10 mph. Temperatures drop to 60 with moisture increasing through the night, creating for a muggy start to the day.

EXTENDED: A few storms could continue in our far northern counties Friday morning, but most of the day will be dry. Much warmer air moves in quickly with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s tomorrow. Storms are possible north of HWY 24 Friday evening and overnight with dry weather holding farther south. The possibility for showers & storms continues through the weekend as the frontal system drifts back to the south and may stall out overhead. By the beginning of next week we can expect heavy rainfall accumulation across the middle of the country. Areas north of I-70 may see 2-3″ by Monday, with areas south coming in closer to 1-2″. Weekend temperatures will range from the low 70s Saturday to the upper 70s Sunday. Monday has trended drier and will be warm as we climb into the mid 80s for Columbus Day.
