House fire early Saturday morning in Northern Boone County causes $1.6 million worth of damages
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A house fire in Northern Boone County early Saturday morning caused $1.6 million in damages. according to the Boone County Fire Protection District.
The fire happened on the 10,000 block of East Greenfield Rd. in Northern Boone County around 1:20 a.m.
The Boone County Fire Protection District says, 15 firefighters were on scene and the house was fully engulfed when crews arrived. Once on scene, firefighters pulled out a hose line and began protecting the home and vehicles.
The owners of the home evacuated with no injuries. The Boone County Fire Protection District says there were 12 cats and dogs inside. Officials say some of the animals did escape the fire but is not clear how many.
According to the Boone County Fire Protection, the cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined but says, based on the investigation and information provided by the homeowners the fire started on the back side of an attached garage on the back deck of the home then quickly moved inside the home.
