The heat continues, storms and cooler air by Friday

TONIGHT: We’ll have a muggy night with temperatures only falling into the low 70s by morning under mostly clear skies and light southerly winds.

WEDNESDAY: The heat and humidity will continue as temperatures climb into the low 90s in the afternoon, feeling like the upper 90s when factoring in the humidity. There is a chance of a spot t-storm with partly sunny skies and winds from the south up to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: Thursday still looks hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s and a spot storm chance. We’re tracking a cold front across the Midwest which will move through Mid-Missouri starting late Thursday night into Friday. This will bring scattered showers and t-storms after 10 PM Thursday which will linger into Friday morning. A few storms could be strong with isolated severe storms possible. As the cold front moves south Friday, the rain chance will shift to areas south of I-70 by evening. Much cooler air moves in behind the front and temperatures will drop into the upper 70s Friday to the lower 70s Saturday for highs. At this time, the front is expected to head farther south into southern Missouri Saturday, with rain chances still possible in the Ozarks while areas north of HWY 50 are more likely to stay dry. This depends where the front ends up but at this time it looks like it will move through faster and much of Mid-Missouri will end up drier for the weekend.
