Michelle Parish says it’s “a dream come true” to be back at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou alum, Michelle Parish, says in returning to her alma matter as the assistant women's golf coach she hopes to protect the state and get local athletes to stay at MU.

Parish was standout at Mizzou from 2011-2016 and says this a dream come true and honor for her to be back. Most recently, she was at Columbia College as the men's and women's golf head coach.

"It just really taught me how to relate to the players, how to push them, how to motivate them, how people are going to respond differently to things and really just going all in and giving it your all to make sure that they're going to be successful," Parish said.

Head coach Caroline Westrup said when she joined Mizzou in June that she is hoping to draw in international athletes. With the addition of Parish, the Tigers could have a good mix of international and local stars.

"There are a couple girls that are local to the area and in Missouri that are superstars coming up. We already have them on our radar and I've known them for a long time now too so hopefully that will help a little bit as well," Parish said.

"Getting those stars coming from Missouri will be huge in protecting our state and trying to get those people to Mizzou to help us win SEC's and win a National Championship one day," Parish added.
