Man charged in Ellis Library incident

A man was charged Sunday after he was accused of pulling his pants down and masturbating in front of a victim at Ellis Library on the University of Missouri campus.

According to court documents, Daniel Hughes admitted to being in the library at the time and approaching the victim. The victim told police Hughes approached her while she was studying on the second floor of the library, pulled down his pants and started masturbating in front of her. She asked him to stop, but he continued. The victim then grabbed her belongings and walked away, according to the probable cause statement.

Police later observed footage of Hughes exiting the library, and he matched the suspect description. Law enforcement confronted Hughes, and he admitted to the incident.

This marks the third incident of sexual misconduct at Ellis Library this year.
