Assault suspect arrested, gives deputies false name

A Columbia man is facing a litany of charges after he was arrested Sunday night.

Deputies say they received a report of an assault at a home in the 4800 block of Meadowlark Lane around 10 p.m.

The victim told authorities 35-year-old Kelvin Perkins assaulted her and then left in her car.

Deputies later found the car, performing a traffic stop near S. Ponderosa Street and Discovery Parkway.

The vehicle had no license plates and Perkins was in the driver’s seat visibly intoxicated, according to deputies.

Perkins also gave deputies the name and information of another person.

Perkins is accused of false impersonation, domestic assault, driving while intoxicated and stealing a motor vehicle.

The combined bond amounts are set at $6,500.
