Hot, humid weekend, relief by Wednesday
SATURDAY: There is an isolated storm chance in areas near I-44 through early afternoon but most areas will stay dry today. It’s going to feel like mid-summer as temperatures climb into the mid 90s with heat indices as high as 104 degrees. Winds will be a bit breezy, coming in from the south at 12-18 mph, gusting up to 25 mph.
TONIGHT: It will be warm and muggy with clear skies. Low temperatures will only drop into the mid 70s with a south breeze near 10 mph.
EXTENDED: The hot, humid weather continues Sunday with highs in the mid 90s and heat indices up to 103 under mostly sunny skies. Afternoon highs will top out in the low to mid 90s again Monday as a stout upper level ridge sets up shop to our southwest. Thankfully, it will be short-lived, as a cold front is set to slowly track through late Tuesday. This will bring a good chance of t-storms by late Tuesday afternoon through the overnight hours. Strong storms look possible with pockets of heavy rain. The rain moves out early Wednesday and temperatures will be cooler, reaching the mid to upper 80s, where we will stay for the remainder of next week. As the front moves back to the north as a warm front, more storms are possible Wednesday night through Thursday. Watch ABC 17 for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
