Cardinals fall in series against Phillies
PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (KMIZ)
Despite a historic opening two games, the St. Louis Cardinals dropped the series to Philadelphia with a shutout loss on Sunday.
Adam Wainwright threw about 103 pitches over the course of about five innings, but allowed all four of Philadelphia's runs. Packy Naughton and James Naile both shutout the Phillies to end the game, but the damage had already been done.
St. Louis finished the night with just four hits overall.
It was a disappointing finish to the series that came with a lot of history for the Cardinals. In the series opener on Friday night, third baseman Nolan Arenado hit for the club's first cycle since 2005. Then, on Saturday, St. Louis knocked out four-consecutive home runs for the first time in club history.
