UPDATE: Sheriff’s department identifies man arrested after Columbia chase
UPDATED 10:15 a.m.: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of a man arrested early Tuesday after a vehicle chase.
Sheriff’s Det. Tom O’Sullivan said in a news release that the chase started at 12:52 a.m. when a deputy on patrol near South Providence and Green Meadows roads tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The chase continued on Old Plank Road and ended in the 300 block of Brookside Lane in south Columbia.
The driver, 29-year-old Selestine Nichols, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, DWI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and careless and imprudent driving. He posted a $2,000 bond and was release.
ORIGINAL: Boone County deputies detained one person early Tuesday morning following a chase through Columbia.
It started just before 1 a.m. near Stadium Boulevard and Providence Road over traffic violations, according to a deputy on scene.
The driver reportedly led authorities on a chase, which eventually ended at Townhomes by Brookside, which is just off of E Old Plank Road.
ABC 17 News crews on scene saw the car involved in the chase with significant damage.
No one was hurt, according to deputies.
The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.
It is unclear if the person will face any charges.
