Police respond to Best Western but find no bomb

Police brought the bomb squad after suspicious items were found at the Best Western Plus hotel in east Columbia, but found nothing dangerous.

Hotel management called authorities after housekeepers reported finding suspicious items in a room, a Columbia Police Department officer at the scene said. The bomb squad was sent to the hotel on Clark Lane as a precaution, but police only found parts of a disassembled clock. the officer said.

Police cleared the scene a little after 3 p.m.
