Woman suffers serious injuries when ATV hits dog

A Columbia woman was badly injured when the ATV she was riding hit a dog Sunday afternoon.

Emily Clarahan, 22, was riding on a Polaris Trail Boss four-wheeler on Audrain County Road 980 a little after 2 p.m. when the vehicle hit a dog that had been chasing it, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a crash report posted online. Clarahan and the driver, Colt Reams, 23, of Centralia, were thrown from the ATV, patrol Sgt. Scott White said.

Clarahan was sent to Boone Hospital Center by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries, according to the report. Reams was also taken to Boone with moderate injuries.
