Quiet weekend spills into Monday, but rain is on the way

TODAY: We started off a bit on the cool side this morning, but with plenty of sunshine we’ll warm up into the low 90s by this afternoon. Winds out of the east around 5-8 mph will make things feel a little more tolerable as well, but be sure to grab that sunscreen. Can’t rule out an isolated storm popping up near the Lake of the Ozarks region, but most of us stay dry.

TONIGHT: We see another night of mostly clear skies around Mid-Missouri as lows cool off to the middle to upper 60s overnight. Winds will begin to turn out of a more southeasterly direction as a high pressure system slides off toward the east.

EXTENDED: Monday starts out dry, but as we move throughout the afternoon, clouds will be increasing ahead of our next system. We will still warm up to the upper 80s and low 90s before clouds overspread the area. Rain picks up Tuesday morning, so the kids may need a rain jacket to start off the school year. Temperatures will be a bit cooler than normal for this time of year with rain keeping us from warming up in the afternoon hours. Showers and some embedded thunderstorms remains in the area through a good portion of Wednesday, bringing some much-needed rain to some drought-stricken areas of Mid-Missouri. This system moves out of the area on Thursday, leading to a break in the action but another area of low pressure is not far behind, bringing more rain towards next weekend.
