Beneficial rain to arrive into the overnight hours
TONIGHT: Scattered showers and storms are expected to increase into the night as a weak cold front tracks through the region. A few strong storms are possible, with the greatest threats being damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail. For most of the night, the activity should stay along and north of I-70, with the rain shifting to the south as we head through the day Tuesday. Overnight lows will bottom out near 72, with winds out of the southwest up to 9 mph.
TUESDAY: Scattered storms capable of damaging winds and quarter size hail are possible for the morning commute, as the cold front continues to track through the region. Thanks to a combination of clouds and rain, temperatures for most of the day should remain in the 70s before briefly jumping into the 80s into the afternoon hours. A marginal risk for severe storms is in place for a large portion of Mid-Missouri into the day Tuesday, but rain and cloud coverage should limit our severe threat. Rainfall amounts will likely top out anywhere from .50″ to 1″, with heavier amounts to our southeast.
EXTENDED: By Wednesday we begin to dry out as temperatures rise back into the upper 80s. There is a small chance for a few spot showers, but most locations should stay on the dry side. The rest of the week features highs near 90 degrees as upper level riding slides back into the area. By the end of the week into the weekend, rain chances are back in the forecast, as a developing low over the Great Lakes should keep isolated showers in the forecast.
