Miller County detention officer accused of sexual contact with inmate

A mid-Missouri detention officer faces charges after investigators accused him of having sexual contact with a female inmate.

The Miller County prosecutor’s office charged Samuel Evans, of Eldon, with felony sexual conduct with a prisoner by an employee of a jail Monday.

According to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, investigators discovered Evans had inappropriate contact with the woman following a tip that was provided to investigators on Friday.

Deputies said that after several interviews over the allegations, Evans admitted to having sexual contact with the inmate while he was at work.

Evans is out of jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
