One more day of heat, storms to follow Tuesday

TONIGHT: Another night of partly cloudy skies and mild conditions across Mid-Missouri as this mid-summer-like pattern continues. Lows fall into the mid-70s with steady south breezes slowing down after sunset. We look to stay dry into your Monday morning commute.

MONDAY: Another hot day is in store to start out your work week. Temperatures will quickly warm into the 90s by noon, into the upper 90s by the afternoon hours. Some spots, especially in the southern half of the viewing area could touch 100 degrees. Thankfully humidities are fairly modest again… The drier atmosphere will help winds stay breezy– you’ll want to avoid any outdoor burning.

EXTENDED: Things begin to get interesting as we push into Monday evening. We’re tracking an approaching cold front which will interact with the warm air in place over the region. That could spark off the chance for a few storms, some of which could be severe. The rain & storms come in rounds Monday night, and anything before 5am on Tuesday could include strong winds and damaging hail. For Tuesday we’re looking at more of a widespread rain threat, which is good news for the drought. Although we can’t rule out a strong storm or two left over Tuesday. We slowly dry out Wednesday– seasonal temperatures take hold to close out the week.
