Fall tease sticks around through the week

TUESDAY: Temperatures this afternoon will be fairly seasonal, as highs top out in the upper 80s. Thankfully, with low humidity values, the heat index will only be a degree or two higher through the day. Most areas will see mostly sunny skies, but building cumulus clouds could bring partly cloudy skies to isolated areas through the day. This could lead to slightly cooler temperatures in areas that see thicker cloud coverage. Northerly winds through the day will not only reinforce the lower humidity values, but keep the afternoon feeling pleasant as we head into the evening.

TONIGHT: Under clear skies, temperatures will dip back into the low to mid 60s by daybreak. It will be a cool night with winds out of the north will range from 5-9 mph.

EXTENDED: This weather pattern stays locked into through much of the week. With plenty of sunshine, temperatures in the upper 80s and lower humidity, we will have pleasant conditions all the way through Thursday. A cold front will approach by Thursday, which will push through the area by evening. Rain chances are low with this frontal passage Thursday, but behind it an unsettled weather pattern returns a storm system slowly moves across southern Missouri. This will increase rain chances Saturday through next Monday. While no severe weather is looking likely with this system, some much needed rain will track through the region. Rain over the next week will likely amount to 1-3 inches of rain, with the highest amounts in areas that are seeing the impacts of an severe to extreme drought. Temperatures will also be cooler this weekend, with the mid to upper 70s not out of the question. Check back with ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and updates throughout the week.
