State and local fire marshals investigate duplex explosion in Camdenton

The Mid-County Fire Protection District and the state fire marshal are investigating after a duplex explosion in Camdenton Monday morning.

ABC 17 News was told the blast was first reported to emergency crews around 8:12 Monday morning at a single-story duplex in the 100 block of Illinois Street.

Firefighters used several hand lines, a deck gun, and an aerial ladder to bring the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

A woman and a small child were inside the duplex at the time of the explosion and escaped the home before emergency crews arrived.

The woman was treated for serious burns and later flown to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, for treatment.

The child wasn’t hurt.

According to investigators, the right unit of the duplex suffered extensive damage, while the left unit suffered significant smoke and water damage.

The Mid-County Fire Protection District was helped by the Osage Beach Fire Protection District and the Camdenton Police Department.
