Branson duck boat to be removed from water Monday

UPDATE: Click here to watch the livestream of the duck boat recovery.

ORIGINAL: Coast Guard officials will remove the Ride the Ducks boat from Table Rock Lake on Monday morning, according to a press release.

The boat has sat at the bottom of the lake near Branson since Thursday night, when storm-driven waves overwhelmed the craft and sank it. 17 people, including five children, died.

The boat company, Ride the Ducks, is coordinating the recovery and the Coast Guard will oversee the operation. The removal will start at 9 a.m.

The plan will involve bringing the boat to the surface, taking it ashore and moving it to a facility for further inspection and investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

A preliminary report from the NTSB should be out in a few weeks.

Crews have also salvaged a recorder from the sunken boat that they hope can show exactly what happened. It’s likely in the hands of federal investigators in Washing D.C.
