One person thrown from vehicle after crashing into creek

The Jefferson City Police Department investigated a rollover crash Tuesday night that injured one person.

According to a news release, the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. in the 7300 block of Algoa Road.

Police said a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner veered off the right side of the road, went airborne and into the creek bed. The vehicle rolled into the concrete bridge support on the west side of the Rising Creek Bridge, according to the release.

Police said evidence showed the driver was thrown through the sunroof opening because the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
