Not as hot this week, storm chances

TONIGHT: Overnight, skies will become mostly clear with lows dropping into the upper 60s to near 70 as winds remain light, from the northeast under 5 mph.

TUESDAY: The day will start with mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing to near 90 by afternoon. The humidity will be a bit lower but it will still feel slightly humid with heat indices in the low to mid 90s, highest west of HWY 63. There is a chance of afternoon storms with the best chance in our western counties.

EXTENDED: A series of upper level disturbances will track through the area from the northwest, generating a chance of storms from Wednesday through Friday. Wednesday will be the most comfortable day this week as high temperatures stay into the upper 80s and heat indices only reach close to 90. Storms are possible by late afternoon and again overnight into early Thursday. The storm chance continues Thursday as a warm front moves through. This will bring temperature and humidity back up with highs close to 90 and heat indices reaching the mid-upper 90s Thursday under partly sunny skies. Another weak cold front will move in from the north Friday with high temperatures near 90 and a slight storm chance. As high pressure builds to our north, winds will shift to the north and humidity will drop, giving us a nice weekend. As of now, the upcoming weekend looks mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s ti bear 90 and nights in the upper 60s.
