UPDATE: Boone County deputies confirm death investigation
UPDATE (7/16 3:55 a.m.): The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it is conducting a death investigation for the incident Sunday night on St. Charles Road.
Deputies first responded to the area around 9:45 p.m. for a report of a subject down, according to Sgt. Andrew Collins.
Collins could not confirm if the death is considered suspicious at this time.
Original story: Multiple law enforcement officers are investigating at the BP on St. Charles Road just east of Columbia and north of I-70.
Right now, ABC 17 News crews said Boone County deputies are on scene and have set up a crime tape perimeter around the gas station.
Deputies have been on scene for about an hour.
Lakewood Drive is currently blocked off and a large crowd is gathering in the area.
