Hot and humid conditions stick around into the weekend
***HEAT ADVISORY THROUGH 8 PM FRIDAY FOR BENTON, CHARITON, COOPER, HOWARD, MORGAN, PETTIS, RANDOLPH, AND SALINE COUNTIES.****
WEDNESDAY: A weak cold front is slowly tracking through Mid-Missouri. Through the afternoon hours this will bring slightly drier air and easterly winds. Even with the frontal passage, it will be hot and humid with high temperatures in the mid 90s under mostly sunny skies. It will be hot with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s under mostly sunny skies and east winds up to 8 mph. Heat indices will reach 98-104 across most of Mid-Missouri, but areas east of Hwy 63 will be on the lower end of the heat indices thanks to the weak cold front.
TONIGHT: Tonight will cool just a tad more than previous nights as overnight lows drop towards 70, with a few areas bottoming out in the upper 60s. We will see clear skies with a light wind out of the northeast up to 10 mph.
EXTENDED: The heat wave continues through the rest of the week, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat indices 100-105. Our next chance of storms arrives Saturday afternoon with scattered showers and storms possible. The heat and humidity continue through the weekend but as a cold front moves south Sunday into Monday, we’ll pick up a better chance of storms and temperatures will cool down a bit, to near 90 Monday and upper 80s Tuesday. The active pattern is likely to stick around through most of next week, bringing with it plenty of opportunities for rain across Mid-Missouri. By this time next week, many spots could see up to an inch of rain. Check back with ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and updates throughout the week.
