Boone County deputies found bullet, shell casing near dead woman

Boone County deputies found a spent shell casing and a bullet near a dead woman last month, according to court documents ABC 17 News obtained Tuesday.

The details come from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department application for a search warrant following a report of stolen guns in the 6100 block of Hatton Chapel Road on June 15. Deputies found 34-year-old Elise’ise Q. McNeal dead inside the home that morning as they investigated. The application asked for permission to collect evidence related to second-degree murder.

The department received a call from a resident of the property on June 14 about guns and ammo stolen from his place. Deputies went to the home the next day and found a person covered with a blanket in the bedroom and blood near the person’s head.

Detective Scott Skinner wrote that the responding deputies “observed an empty shell casing and a bullet lying on the bedroom floor near the individual’s body. The bedroom also contained an odor of decomposition.”

An inventory of items taken from the home shows deputies took a spent .22-caliber round from the master bedroom. Several “blood swabs” were also taken from throughout the house. Detective Tom O’Sullivan said investigators are waiting for DNA test results to come back on several items sent from the scene.

An autopsy found that McNeal died of gunshot wounds.

Jason Anderson, a former resident of the property on Hatton Chapel Road, was arrested June 15 in Christian County for allegedly shooting at a deputy trying to pull him over. Law enforcement found 53 guns and more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition in his possession. Some of the guns matched the description of those stolen from the house on Hatton Chapel Road. Anderson faces several charges in Christian County, including assault, unlawful use of a weapon and stealing.

Charges have not been filed in relation to McNeal’s death.
