Fulton Police: ‘We found no evidence of forced fighting’ in Carl DeBrodie case

Fulton Police is responding nearly a week after ABC 17 News uncovered a wrongful death lawsuit claiming Carl DeBrodie died from injuries due to forced fighting at his caregivers home.

Following the arrests of five defendants in connection to the death of Carl, Fulton Police Chief Steve Myers told ABC 17 News Tuesday morning that several allegations in the wrongful death lawsuit are “untrue.”

When asked what allegations he was referring to, Myers said, “I probably wouldn’t go into detail on that but I know some of the allegations that I was made aware of in the civil side, we found to be false.”

ABC 17 News asked if “forced fighting” was investigated, to which Myers responded, “we found no evidence of that during our investigation.”

Myers said he is confident that justice will prevail. “I certainly do think we will get justice for Carl. I think if it goes to a jury trial, I think we’ll have a very successful conclusion to it.”
