CPS announces new preschool director

A spokesperson for the Columbia Public School District announced on Wednesday that Nicole Langston will be recommended to the Board of Education to become the director of preschool for the district for the 2018-2019 school year.

Langston will replace current director Mary Rook, who will retire at the end of the school year.

Langston has been the principal at Southwest Early Childhood Center in the Jefferson City School District for the last nine years.

Langston has an education specialist degree in education policy and analysis from the University of Missouri and a master’s degree in elementary administration from William Woods University.

“We’re are so pleased to welcome Ms. Langston to Columbia Public Schools. She will continue to build upon our emphasis on the importance of early childhood education,” said Superintendent Peter Stiepleman.
