Troopers arrest man accused of shooting at vehicle in Boone County
BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Madison, Missouri man could face charges in Boone County after a shooting.
Chad B. Wolfe, 39, was arrested by troopers early Friday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Wolfe faces possible charges of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.
Troopers said Wolfe was arrested after his vehicle matched the description of a suspect vehicle from the shooting. Another vehicle was reportedly damaged by gunfire in the shooting.
Troopers said Wolfe had an ongoing dispute with the owner of the vehicle. Boone County Jail records show Wolfe was booked into the facility just before 4:35 a.m.
A probable cause statement said the incident was a case of road rage tied to an altercation earlier this week. The victim told dispatchers that a truck was trying to run his vehicle off the road and shooting at him on Highway 124 near Highway 63, according to the statement.
A highway patrol trooper pulled Wolfe over and found a .22-caliber rifle and a .40-caliber handgun in the truck, the statement says. A trooper also found multiple bullet holes in the victim's vehicle.
Wolfe told deputies he had shot at the people in the other vehicle a few nights before when they burglarized his property, according to the statement.
Wolfe is being held in jail on no bond.
More details about when or where the shooting happened weren't immediately available.
A passenger in Wolfe's vehicle, Craig A. Mullins, 41, of Sturgeon, was arrested by troopers around 1:20 a.m. Troopers said Mullins was arrested after drug paraphernalia and meth were found.
A rifle and handgun that belonged to Mullins were reportedly found in the vehicle. Mullins is a convicted felon, which makes it illegal for him to have guns.
Mullins was booked into the Boone County Jail just before 6:20 a.m. Friday and released on bond, according to jail records.
