Mid-Missouri Business Week: Business Loop economy, sales tax revenue
ABC 17 News sat down with Carrie Gartner, executive director of the Business Loop C.I.D., to talk about Columbia’s economy and sales tax revenue.
Gartner says stores are focusing on providing goods and services consumers can’t buy online to keep sales tax revenues local. The city is encouraging new startups and retailers in the area, as this will raise sales tax revenue.
In 2018, Gartner is already seeing high sales tax revenues. She says the goal for the year is for Columbia businesses to create a specialization that consumers can’t get through online shopping such as Amazon.
