Continued rain showers and isolated storms to close Friday

FRIDAY: A nearly 20 degrees temperature gradient exist across Mid-Missouri this afternoon, with warmer temperatures to the south. Showers and isolated storms continue this afternoon, as a warm front slowly lifts to the northeast. The threat is very low, but we could see an isolated severe storm after 3PM, with the main threat being damaging winds and quarter size hail. Rain will be slow to taper off into the evening hours, as a low pressure system tracks over Mid-Missouri. Outside of any rain/storms that we see, we’ll also experience breezy conditions into the afternoon hours, with winds out of the southeast up to 20 mph and gusting as high as 30.

TONIGHT: Most of the rain will exit the area close to 11 PM tonight, but a few lingering showers can’t be ruled out into early Sunday north of I-70. Partly cloudy skies hang on tonight as temperatures drop towards 40 by morning. Southerly winds shift to the northwest at 10-14 mph by morning creating wind chills to drop into the mid 40s.

EXTENDED: With clouds holding tight on Saturday and northwesterly flow high temperatures will only rise to the low 50s with a cool evening as lows eventually drop back into the 30s. As clouds break a bit on Sunday the second half of the weekend will see a nice 10 degree warm up with highs reaching back towards 60s. However, another storm system will arrive late Sunday into Monday with increasing showers and t-storms Sunday night through Monday followed by cooler weather to start the week. Tuesday, the spring equinox, still looks to be the coldest day of the 7-day as highs top out in the mid 40s accompanied with a chance of a few light snow showers early on in the day, making it feel a lot more like winter as we usher in spring.
