Increasing showers and t-storms this morning

FRIDAY: The morning commute will be wet as scattered showers continue to increase west to east. We could see a few rumbles of thunder early on in the day. Temperatures to the northeast could drop below freezing providing the chance of a wintry mix, but there should be no road impacts due to the warmer ground temperature. These will taper off a bit after lunch becoming more isolated through the day. With spotty thunderstorms this afternoon, there is a marginal severe threat with damaging wind to 60 mph or quarter size hail. High temperatures will range from the low 40s north of I-70 to near 60 at the Lake of the Ozarks and winds will come in from the east-southeast, gusting to 30 mph at times.

TONIGHT: Most of the rain will exit the area close to 11 PM tonight, but a few lingering showers can’t be ruled out into early Sunday north of I-70. Partly cloudy skies hang on tonight as temperatures drop towards 40 by morning. Southerly winds shift to the northwest at 5-10 mph by morning creating wind chills to drop into the mid 40s.

EXTENDED: With clouds holding tight on Saturday and northwesterly flow high temperatures will only rise to the low 50s with a cool evening as lows eventually drop back into the 30s. As clouds break a bit on Sunday the second half of the weekend will see a nice 10 degree warm up with highs reaching back towards 60s. However, another storm system will arrive late Sunday into Monday with increasing showers and t-storms Sunday night through Monday followed by cooler weather to start the week. Tuesday, the spring equinox, still looks to be the coldest day of the 7-day as highs top out in the mid 40s accompanied with a chance of a few light snow showers early on in the day, making it feel a lot more like winter as we usher in spring.
