UPDATE: Suspect in custody after “incident” on County Road JJ

UPDATE 6:30 pm: According to an acquaintance of the victim, Bell and his girlfriend (the female that was taken into custody) were under the influence of drugs and alcohol during the incident.

The acquaintance said the victim found himself in a fight with Bell and Bell’s girlfriend and told the acquaintance that Bell had a gun.

When police were called, Bell was nowhere to be found but around noon Thursday, officials received a lead that Bell was in a nearby wood, where he was tracked down by K-9 and taken into custody.

UPDATE 1:15 pm: Randolph County deputies said they initially responded to a disturbance call and immediately took a woman into custody when officers arrived on scene.

The female suspect and victim said that Jeremy Bell was still in the apartment and was armed with a gun. Bell was wanted for active felony warrants.

Officers said they evacuated the surrounding apartments and the day care was notified of the incident. After several hours of no contact, deputies searched the apartment and could not find Bell but did find a stolen gun.

Bell was later found in a wooded area just southwest of the residence.

UPDATE 1:00 pm: Officers have arrested one man after responding to County Road JJ.

Officers said they got information that the suspect got into an altercation with another man and started threatening him with a gun. When deputies arrived on scene, the suspect fled.

A K-9 unit found the suspect hiding in some nearby woods.

UPDATE 11:45 am: Officials said Tiny Treasures Learning Center of Excellence was on lockdown for a brief time on Thursday morning due to the situation.

ORIGINAL STORY: Multiple agencies responded to an “incident” on County Road JJ in West Moberly on Thursday morning.

A spokesperson with Troop B confirms they are assisting the Sheriff’s Office with an incident on JJ.

ABC 17 is hearing reports of a possible stand-off in the area, but nothing has been confirmed.
