Road repair closes lanes of Missouri Boulevard, Dix Road

Some lanes of the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and Dix Road in Jefferson City will be closed Wednesday evening into Thursday morning to repair uneven pavement.

There will be lanes open during the construction, but drivers should expect delays until the work is completed. MoDOT hopes to wrap up before rush hour Thursday.

The uneven pavement is a dip in the middle of the intersection, according to MoDOT District Engineer David Sylvester.

Sylvester said the dip has slowly been getting worse since a water main broke at the intersection in October.

The repairs are only temporary, according to Sylvester, but give MoDOT more flexibility for planning a permanent fix. He said it is likely the long-term fix will take place in June, but nothing official has been planned yet.

A spokesperson for Missouri American Water, the utility company in charge of the well-fare of the water main, says a replacement project will likely be scheduled in 2019.
