Abortion rights supporters gather in Downtown Columbia Saturday afternoon

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Abortion rights supporters gathered around the world, including in Downtown Columbia, Saturday afternoon in support of abortion access and reproductive freedom.

Many different groups came together including Planned Parenthood and Women's March.

The protests are apart of a nationwide response to leaked Supreme Court documents that revealed its plan to overturn Roe v. Wade and eliminate abortion rights.

A local protestor, Dana Morris, told ABC 17 News today that her husband and son were there to support.

"A lot of men need to stand up with us at this very crucial moment," Morris said.

Protests were held in cities all around the nation Saturday with as many as 17,000 people expected to march in Washington D.C.

"It's a great turn out and I'm happy to see it. I'm glad that Columbia is here and I know that many marches are happening all around the country today," Morris said.
