Governor declares State of Emergency for chance of flooding, storms

Gov. Eric Greitens announced Saturday afternoon that state resources will be available to respond to possible flooding and thunderstorms.

The announcement included a note from Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden:

“With several roads in southern Missouri closed due to high water, and water rescues occurring in the southwest portion of the state, the State Emergency Operations Center has been activated to respond to this flooding,” Juden said. “We have been tracking the rain and flooding throughout the week and we are in close coordination with the Governor, state and local agencies, and response partners to ensure we are prepared to respond to this flooding.”

“This evening, the southern portion of Missouri remains under a Flash Flood Warning,” the statement also said.
