A brief break in winter weather before our next round arrives tonight
WEDNESDAY: It will be a cold and mainly dry day with mostly cloudy skies and highs only in the mid to upper 30s. Northerly winds of 10-13 mph will make it feel like the teens in the morning to low to mid 20s in the afternoon. By this evening we will see our next chance for winter mix work into our southwestern counties from 7-9 PM, spreading north through the overnight hours.
TONIGHT: As moisture increases from the south we will see freezing rain and sleet move in south of I-70 after 8 PM making its track north of I-70 after 10 PM. This will mainly be in the form of freezing rain for most of the area, but our northwestern counties could see the switch over to snowfall as temperatures drop lower into the 20s there. Most areas will see temperatures hover around 32, providing the opportunity for another glaze of ice by Thursday morning. This could impact your morning commute with low temperatures dropping into the upper 20s with wind chills in the low 20s by daybreak.
EXTENDED: Freezing rain and snow will exit our northern counties by 8 AM Thursday morning before temperatures climb into the low to mid 40s with rain likely again in Thursday evening and overnight. The rain ends Friday morning and temperatures will climb into the lower 50s in the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. Another round of rain moves in Friday night with on and off rain Saturday as temperatures stay above freezing, reaching the 50s Saturday afternoon. Sunday looks dry and mild with highs in the mid 50s. Next work week will start off dry and mild with highs remaining in the 50s.
