A Centralia man was hurt Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Highway 54.

The crash happened around 5:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Audrain County Road 844, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troopers said a motorcycle driven by Gabriel C. Pettit, 40, flipped over after he went off the side of the road.

Pettit was thrown from the motorcycle, according to the crash report. Emergency crews took Pettit by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

On Wednesday morning, MU Health Care told ABC 17 News that Pettit is in serious condition.

Troopers said Pettit wasn't wearing a helmet.
