Missouri Supreme Court considers attorney and Shayne Healea privilege case

The Missouri Supreme Court is considering what action to take after police recorded a central Missouri prosecutor talking to his attorney.

The court heard arguments on Tuesday in a case involving Shayne Healea, who backed into a Columbia restaurant in 2014.

Healea is asking the state Supreme Court to disqualify the Attorney General’s office from prosecuting the case.

He is arguing the office violated attorney-client privilege because it had a recording provided by Columbia police that contained a private conversation between Healea and his attorney.

The Attorney General’s office argued it should remain as the special prosecutor because the office did not know it had the recording and no one there listened to it.

As of right now, it is unclear when the Supreme Court will rule.
