50-year-old inmate dies at the Jefferson City Correctional Center

Jefferson City Correctional Center officials reported that a 50-year-old inmate died on Friday morning.

Officials said Joel Allred was serving 19 years for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, resisting or interfering with arrest, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Allred was received in the Missouri Department of Correction in February of 2016.

Allred died of apparent natural causes.
