Owensville man charged after crash caused serious injuries to 6-year-old
An Owensville man has been charged with a DWI that caused serious physical injury after a December crash caused serious injuries to a 6-year-old boy.
ABC 17 previously reported Cody Miller, 26, was driving southbound on Highway 89 when he went off the right edge of the road, overcorrected and then went off the left side of the road. The car rolled several times before coming to a rest on its wheels.
Troopers said when they arrived on scene they noticed Miller’s eyes were watery and very bloodshot. Miller was also accused of incoherent speech and was difficult to understand.
Officers said Miller’s breath sample indicated that his blood alcohol content was in excess of .08 percent.
Miller said he had consumed a few margaritas the night prior to the crash and had not consumed any alcoholic beverages after the crash.
Two children were inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash. One had serious physical injuries and the other had minor ones. Both children were not properly restrained inside of the vehicle.
Miller was also charged with failing to drive on the right half of the roadway, operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility and failing to wear safety belts.
