Senate votes to reopen government
Senators voted on a spending bill Monday morning that would reopen the government after a shutdown.
The bill has gotten enough votes to pass and democrats said they will back it.
ABC17 previously reported that democrats blocked a house spending plan on Friday, forcing Congress to miss the shutdown deadline.
The plan does come with a stipulation that Congress will reach an agreement on immigration issues by Feb. 8.
Lawmakers are still at odds over what to do about people affected by the DACA program. Democrats wanted protections included in the spending measure while republicans say it should be a separate matter.
Once the bill clears, the Senate it will go to the House for a vote.
