Tracking Freezing Rain Sunday Morning

TODAY: We’ll see temperatures climb into the mid to upper 20s with some low 30s near the Lake of the Ozarks. Winds will come in from the east-southeast up to 12 mph, generating wind chills in the teens in the afternoon.

TONIGHT : Cloud cover and southerly winds ahead of our next weather system will actually help us warm as we head throughout your Saturday night. Lows will be in the low to mid 20s and should occur right around midnight.

EXTENDED: Our main weather story occurs on Sunday. A wintry mix beginning as early as 6 AM near HWY 65 Sunday morning will spread east throughout the morning. The wintry mix, with the potential for freezing rain will stick around through midday Sunday, bringing with it the potential for hazardous travel conditions. By the late afternoon hours, we’ll finally see temperatures climb above freezing for the region, with a changeover to rain. It’s still possible we could see some isolated areas still dealing with freezing rain, since ground temperatures remain well below freezing in our region. As the system exits to our southeast by Sunday night, we could see a brief changeover to snow, followed by cooler and drier conditions to follow. Freezing rain accumulations could total as much as .10″, with isolated higher amounts. Early next week, temperatures look to climb into the 40s and even lower 50s toward the middle of the work week, with our next shot of precipitation arriving as we head into Thursday.
