Police investigate robbery at Walgeens in Jefferson City

Jefferson City police are searching for the person who robbed a Walgreens location on Friday night.

According to police, the robbery happened around 6 p.m. at the store at 900 Eastland Drive.

Police told ABC 17 News the suspect jumped over the counter and took prescription drugs from the pharmacy.

Police said the suspect only took medication that was on display behind the counter.

Narcotics at the pharmacy are held inside a locked safe.

Walgreens was closed so police and workers could review the store’s inventory to find out which prescription drugs were taken.

The department is working with the pharmacy to get surveillance video that captured the robbery. The store plans to turn over the footage to detectives.

Police said no one was hurt and that the suspect never displayed a weapon.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Jefferson City Police Department at 573-634-6400 or CrimeStoppers.

That number is 573-659-8477.
