Columbia man accused of breaking into woman’s house, beating her

A Columbia man has been charged with burglary and domestic assault after he was accused of breaking into a woman’s home and beating her.

According to the probable cause statement, Mathew McMillan showed up to the female victim’s house, grabbed her face and started to squeeze. Police said they noticed a cut on her nose and near both of her eyes that were consistent with her story.

The victim told police that McMillan later returned to her house and tried to get into the residence but she was holding the door.

The victim said McMillan was able to kick the back door open and began to hit and kick her several times.

Police said McMillan was also accused of punching the victim’s TV, which caused it to knock over.

According to the probable cause statement, McMillan has a criminal history that includes convictions for robbery and armed criminal action.

McMillan was charged with burglary and domestic assault.
