East Campus neighborhood under boil advisory after water main break

Some residents in the East Campus neighborhood are currently under a boil advisory after a water main break Tuesday.

Brian Adkisson, with Columbia Water and Light, said the boil advisory has been extended until 5:30 p.m. Friday.

He said Tuesday’s water leak affected 61 metered connections in the neighborhood. ABC 17 News spoke to some residents in the area who were upset because, they said, they weren’t properly notified of the break.

Adkisson said those affected received an automated call from the city. Doors tags were also placed in the neighborhood. Adkisson said it’s important to make sure the city has your correct contact information or you may not receive a phone call. You can update your contact information by clicking here.

ABC 17 News learned from a Columbia Fire Department official that there have been at least 27 water main breaks reported since Dec. 27.
