Cold tonight & through the rest of your Christmas week

TONIGHT : Skies will be clearing into the evening, and winds will continue to die down as well. Our lows look to dip into the teens tonight along with light winds out of the west at 5-10mph. Those wind chills by morning time will be in the lower single digits, so if you’re out to see family Christmas morning, make sure you bundle up well because it will be frigid tomorrow morning.

Christmas Day: It will be a little warmer tomorrow, thanks in part to more sunshine on your Christmas day. It will still be cold, but temperatures look to bump to or above the 32 degree mark by the afternoon. Winds will be light out of the west around 5mph creating wind chills in the lower 20s, so you’ll still need the jacket.

Extended: The big story headed into the week will be the big-time winter cold. We don’t look to see much in the way of relief either. The first cold blast looks to hit late Monday night and into Tuesday morning where highs on Tuesday may not even make it out of the upper teens. Lows will likely be in the single digits for Wednesday morning. We’re also tracking the chance at another clipper Thursday that has the potential for another round of light snow. We’ll be able to give more specific amounts on that system as we get closer. Into next weekend, a lot of data has been pointing to some even colder air behind all of the cold air we see this week. The name of the game is going to be winter cold well into the New Year.
