One person killed in Callaway County crash

UPDATE (8 PM): The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the driver killed in Saturday’s two-car crash on Highway Y.

Troopers said Ryan Kirk, 23, of New Bloomfield, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash.

According to the crash report, the two trucks hit head on before catching on fire.

The driver of the other truck was identified as Ross Artnzen, 28, of New Bloomfield. Artnzen and a 7-year-old boy were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

ORIGINAL: One person died after a crash on Highway Y in Callaway County Saturday afternoon, according to a trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to MSHP, one adult male was killed in the crash. Two other people were taken to the hospital with “not severe” injuries. The trooper did not know the extent of the injuries.

Emergency crews were called to the crash near County Road 365 around 1:30 p.m.

Two pickup trucks had collided and caught fire. Firefighters with Southern Boone Fire Protection District responded to the scene.

Highway Y was closed for hours while MSHP investigated the crash.
